Values Based Recruitment

Values Based Recruitment (VBR) is an approach which attracts and selects students, trainees or employees on the basis that their individual values and behaviours align with the values of the NHS Constitution. VBR provides a standardised method of ensuring HE Institutions recruit the best people to give patients the best care possible.

The benefits of VBR are that it allows individuals to work effectively within a team, it enhances the patients' experience and results in greater job satisfaction and experience.

I undertook a significant amount of time on placement with my midwifery degree programme which was a highlight. I was lucky enough to spend seven weeks in a hospital in a remote area of Kenya called Ortum in the summer of my second year and I loved the whole thing!
