Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

We have provided high-quality training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for many years. In that time, we have built up excellent working relationships with our clinical partners in Lancashire and Cumbria in supporting students in the development of CBT practice.

What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is the most in-demand psychological therapy in the UK. It is the most rigorously researched form of psychological therapy and its evidence-based approach has led it to become the treatment of choice adopted by the NHS.

What CBT courses do we offer?

We offer PgD Advanced Practice of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (High Intensity IAPT). The course is academic but focuses on developing students into clinicians able to offer real hope, to real people, in the real world.

Why study CBT at the University of Cumbria?

We are in the top three universities for educating health professionals in the North West* and are proud of the high level of support we are able to offer students.

As a CBT graduate from the University of Cumbria you are virtually guaranteed work after your studies as the demand for CBT grows every day in the UK and across the world. The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (N.I.C.E) supports CBT as the main evidence-based treatment of choice for anxiety disorders and depression.

CBT therapists work in a wide range of workplaces including; the NHS, occupational health providers, Employment Assistance Programs, charities, and private practice.
