Confirmation of Acceptance

Once you've accepted your offer to study at the University of Cumbria and have met any conditions of offer, the next step to consider is arranging your Visa, and for that, you will need your Confirmation of Acceptance (CAS). Our experts will be here to support you and make this process as simple as possible, but you can keep reading to get an understanding of the process before you start.

What is CAS

The Confirmation of Acceptance (CAS) is evidence that you have fulfilled the university’s requirements to enter your chosen course and we are sponsoring you to come and study in the UK. You will use this as part of your visa application. If you need to obtain a Student Visa you will need a Confirmation of Acceptance (CAS).

How do I obtain my CAS?

This will be given to you by our UKVI Compliance team, so you don’t need to do anything until contacted by them.

CAS is an individual electronic document containing important information about the University, your course, location, and level of study, as well as your personal details.

A CAS can only be used once. To receive your CAS you need to:

  • Have an unconditional offer to study your programme
  • Provide all the documents requested by the Admissions team
  • Pay a minimum deposit of £4000 (for low risk countries) or 50% of the first year’s tuition fees (unless your offer letter tells you differently)
  • Pass the University of Cumbria credibility interview (where applicable) that you will be invited to participate in via CAS Shield

What documents will I need to provide?

Once the University open up the CAS requests for your intake on CAS Shield you will be invited to log in and complete the online request for a CAS.  CAS Shield will ask you to provide information and where required documentary evidence to be uploaded to support your CAS request. It will include;

  • UK and Overseas Immigration History
  • Copies of any previous UK visas, BRP cards, refusal letters for any country
  • A tuberculosis certificate accredited by the UKVI (where required)
  • An official financial document confirming that you have a required minimum amount of money held on your account for 28 days: this would be the outstanding tuition fees for the first year of study plus £1,023 per month (up to 9 months) for maintenance costs
  • Where we see large sums of money being deposited in your bank account you will be asked to supply official documentation of where this money has come from.
  • Copies of entry qualification
  • Official consent if you are sponsored by your parents/legal guardians along with a Birth Certificate/Adoption Certificate
  • Some students will need to pass the credibility interview, where this is required you will receive an invite via CAS Shield – please ensure you have a stable internet connection and are in a room where you will not be disturbed.
