ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Welcome to the Catholic Teaching Alliance
The Catholic Teaching Alliance (North) is underpinned by a shared passion to train and develop outstanding and inspirational teachers, who are highly employable dedicated professionals. The Alliance has a shared vision and commitment to providing first class teacher training provision, that not only prepares trainees with the skills and knowledge required to teach their subject, but also appreciates the distinct ethos that working as part of a Catholic community can bring.
The Catholic Teaching Alliance (North) is a cross phase alliance of around 60 schools working in a true partnership with the University of Cumbria. We offer PGCE with QTS. The lead school is Our Lady’s Catholic High School based in Fulwood, Preston. Working in collaboration with the University of Cumbria we have developed a programme of school led training days, Subject Studies days covering the ITE Curriculum based on the ITT Core Content Framework and Teachers’ Standards.
The Catholic Teaching Alliance offers PGCE with QTS courses in:
- Early Primary (3-7 years in Preston or Burnley)
- General Primary (5-11 years in Preston or Burnley)
- Secondary (11-16 years in Preston or Blackburn)
- Secondary with post 16 (14-19 years in Preston)
Teaching placements across the partnership ensure that trainee teachers work alongside current outstanding practitioners within successful schools. By drawing on the expertise of our rich talent pool of fully trained mentors, who act as role models for current and future trainee teachers, we are able to offer outstanding support and guidance.
The University of Warwick provides accreditation for the QTS element of these University of Cumbria programmes.
