Introduction
The University of Cumbria works closely with numerous Practice Education Facilitators (PEFs) across Cumbria and Lancashire. The role of the PEF is to ensure high quality, multi-professional learning environments are provided for all healthcare students. This includes those working in health and social care settings in both NHS and private, independent and voluntary organisations (PIVOs).
Aspects of the PEF role include:
- Supporting learning and assessment in practice
- Quality Assurance of practice learning environments (PLE)
- Promotion of inter-professional learning opportunities
- Management of PLE capacity and capability
- Ensuring all supervisors, assessors or practice educators are proficient in their role
- Provision of in-house training programmes
