The courses are suitable for all project team members looking to gain greater insight into the project environment.
Learning objectives
At the end of SIM 1 participants will be able to:
- Analyse stakeholders and establish key project objectives
- Apply critical path analysis using bar charts, work breakdown structures, and Earned Value Management
- Understand how to allocate resources in order to optimise time-cost- quality trade-offs
- Understand cash flow, quality and risk management techniques
- Apply experience of managing a complex project, from planning through to operation, to the workplace environment
- Apply experience of project decision-making by making judgements about: contract and procurement strategy, defining the scope and changes, clarifying the project objectives, risk and stakeholder management and scheduling and resourcing
At the end of SIM 2 participants will be able to:
- Develop advanced stakeholder analysis techniques
- Balance the conflicting interests of a variety of stakeholders
- Understand how networks can be used to influence stakeholder relations
- Craft efficient and effective communication strategies
- Map and prioritise stakeholders and issues
- Analyse the impact of stakeholder support or opposition
Assessment format
Participants will complete a formative assessment as part of each course.

Booking
To book your place, please see below for arrangements if you want to pay by purchase order and invoice or by credit card.
Conditions
If you have selected a course which is delivered online, please read the technical requirements before booking. If you are unable to undertake a booked course due to not having the required equipment, no refund will be offered.
Inclusions and exclusions
- Individual learning packs including presentations and exercise handouts will be issued to you, either electronically in the case of an online course, or in hard copy for in person courses.
- Meals and refreshments are not included at in person courses. You will be able to bring your own lunch or buy food on or near the training premises.

- Name and date(s) of course(s)
- Purchase order and any additional details to be quoted on invoice.
If you have not conducted business with the University of Cumbria before, please be aware that both of us may have administrative procedures required to set up our respective customer/supplier accounts and the time taken to complete these may impact on the availability of places on your preferred course.
Payment, cancellation and changes
- Bookings, including purchase orders, to be received at least four weeks ahead of course start date.
- At our discretion, late bookings may be accepted: please check with us before sending a purchase order.
- Invoices will be issued four weeks before the course once delivery is confirmed (or immediately on receipt of an accepted late booking) and will be due for payment immediately. Full payment should be received by us prior to the course commencing.
- In the event that a booked delegate is unable to attend, substitutions may be made at no cost. UoC must be notified of the substituted names prior to the course commencing. No substitutions will be accepted once the course is in progress.
- In the event of a substitute not being provided for a cancelled candidate place, the unfilled place will be charged for.
- Any no-shows during the course will be charged for.
- For all cancellations and substitutions, UoC must be notified in writing via email to project.academy@cumbria.ac.uk.

On receipt of your booking and confirmation that we can accommodate you, we will send a link to take your payment.
