Event Information

Nestled in the heart of The Lake District National Park, our Ambleside Open Afternoon is unlike any other. As the only university campus in the UK located in a UNESCO World Heritage site, we offer a unique experience showcasing our outdoor facilities, historic buildings, and connection to the Lakes.

Explore a spectacular landscape with sprawling green hills, freshwater environments and Lakeland fells when you study here. Our compact and friendly campus is just a short walk away from Ambleside town centre and a short bus ride away from iconic towns like Grasmere, Keswick and Windermere.  Ambleside is one of the most visited places in the Lake District and is home to restaurants, bars and art house cinemas.  It is a bustling and friendly community that supports the University of Cumbria and embraces all that students bring to the local area:  from part-time work to being a member of the local football team.  The courses at Ambleside all work in harmony with the local area, providing a living breathing classroom on your doorstep.
