What to expect

An Online Seminar by Prof Jill Stewart, Director of the Institute of Engineering, Computing and Advanced Manufacturing

When we think about ethics, most of us will first think about things like medicine and informed consent. That doesn’t seem to apply to the engineering profession, so what do ethical principles look like in a profession that works to enhance the wellbeing of society?

This workshop will explore the Royal Academy of Engineering and Engineering Councils joint Statement of Ethical Principles and then put them through a test through an interactive case study. We will test and question engineering principles in terms of the climate crisis and debate how to weigh our personal values against professional responsibilities.
