National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Health Determinants Research Collaborations (HDRCs) enable local authorities to become more research active.

Cumberland Council was awarded £4.8million from the NIHR to set up a HDRC aimed at increasing research capacity within the Council and conducting research with communities about health inequalities. Researchers from the Institute of Health at University of Cumbria will be supporting colleagues at Cumberland Council to deliver their HDRC.
