My main research area is to apply whole-body neuromuscular techniques to investigate adaptations to exercise and rehabilitation. These techniques include surface electromyography, dynamometry, calorimetry, motion analysis and posturography. I am an expert in the development and testing of novel approaches to exercise for older people, which has a high potential to offer a particular, novel contribution to the care of patients. Elements of training methods currently used by elite athletes are being adapted and explored for the contribution which they can make to the rehabilitation of elderly, neurological and orthopaedic patients.
