Research focus: Suicide understandings/prevention
There is substantial literature making sense of suicide’s contributory factors, yet this oftens remains disproportionately influenced my medicalised understandings, preventing other influences of suicide from being adequately considered. The research I am doing aims to identify understandings of suicide’s contributory factors by those who have experienced a suicide death or attempted suicide in the UK. The findings will be considered against the backdrop of current literature, and specifically in relation to suicide being primarily the result of mental illness.
