Aimee Bowden applied to the University of Cumbria through Clearing. Below, she tells us about her Clearing experience and studying Occupational Therapy at Cumbria.
I applied for the Occupational Therapy degree through Clearing in 2023.
I initially thought that, due to not having enough UCAS points, my journey and dream of becoming an occupational therapist was over. However, it was incredible to hear that I could potentially earn a place through the Clearing process.
Attending a Clearing Open Day
I attended a Clearing Open Day and I had a great time. This is where I met Emma Spellman (Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy) and I was able to find out more about the course, solidifying my choice to join. Emma explained to me how to apply through Clearing.
To apply, I then made an appointment with the admissions team and filled out the form.
Studying Occupational Therapy at Cumbria
What I enjoy most about the Occupational Therapy course is I’ve met so many wonderful and lovely people, some of whom I believe will be friends for life. The facilities, the lecturers and support from peers is so amazing. You’re never left wondering what to do, because the support and guidance from everyone on campus is immaculate.
If I have any issues at all, I can have a meeting booked with my personal tutor Helen Wilby to discuss them. This was essential for me as I have additional learning needs, which I was able to convey and get a support plan made with Helen’s guidance.
If you're thinking of applying through Clearing...
I would heavily recommend to others to apply through Clearing. The dream is not over just because you may not have the required UCAS points. The course is so incredible and I’m thoroughly glad I got the chance to apply through Clearing.
