Class of 2012
Coming from London, Imran was used to big city life, but felt it was time for a change. "I was attracted to the University of Cumbria because of the personal feel of the course, the campus and cohort was relatively small so you got to know everyone well. I wanted to experience a different lifestyle to London and I very quickly fell in love with Carlisle."
Imran chose the course as "it was a course that offered 3 years of dedicated learning around Primary Education (as opposed to a 1 year PGCE) and offered a direct route into teaching. The degree completely changed my life, teaching is a career that changes your life as it is such an important one where you are shaping the life of the children you teach and making decisions for the future of a school. Plus I met my wife on the course!"
"Studying at the University of Cumbria shaped my life and my career and I enjoyed every moment of it!"
Imran is now a head teacher, working for Norfolk County Council. "I love making a positive difference to lives of all the children I teach and being able to make decisions that lead to positive outcomes for the children’s wellbeing and learning.
"Prospective students should know the University of Cumbria supports its students whilst they are studying and far beyond graduation – the tutors really care about you. My advice to current and prospective students considering a similar career should know that education is demanding and you have to put in a lot of hard work but it is a really rewarding career."
