Based at our Brampton Road campus in Carlisle, our Institute houses state-of-the art facilities for all arts courses. We also have The Refectory Area (serving hot and cold food), Starbucks Coffee, Vallum Gallery and Stanwix Theatre.
Art and Design Facilities
Art and Design students have access to a number of large open spaces which can be used both for production and exhibition. Students also have access to textiles, ceramics and metal workstations plus large traditional printing presses.
The graphic design and illustration studio is the hub of these courses, where students are encouraged to work daily. There is ample space to facilitate your creations, as well as over 80 Apple Mac computers with the latest software and large memory capacity.
Photography has a wide range of specialist resources available for almost every conceivable art and photographic outcome. We have a range of new equipment, including the latest-spec Nikon digital cameras, professional digital medium-format, panoramic Hasselblad and 4x5 large format and three professionally equipped studios. Post-production and printing is through high-quality, dedicated Mac workstations and modern printers. We maintain traditional wet darkrooms and specialist photography techniques for those who prefer this way of working.

Media Arts Facilities
Digital Arts and Games Design students have primary access to three computer labs, with the most up-to-date versions of industry-standard software. Other dedicated resources include tablets, Nikon D80s, HD Video cameras and all current major video game consoles.
The AV media resource areas used by Film and Television Production students have everything you will need to complete your film, television and radio projects, including professional video-editing suites and cameras, sound recording equipment and radio suites.
Performing Arts Facilities
Performing Arts students can get involved in over 300 events a year that take place in the 180-seat Stanwix Arts Theatre and 80-seat studio theatre.
There are a number of recently renovated performance spaces available for rehearsal as well as professionally designed dressing rooms that are used ahead of performances.
