Biography

I work as a full-time Lecturer in Midwifery, with responsibility for leading on Module MIDP4100, Midwife as Scholar 1; I support my colleagues in their work on other modules at Levels 4, 5 and 6, over the second and third year of the course.

I worked clinically from date of registration in Tertiary (Regional referral) Obstetric Units in Shropshire, Jersey and the West Midlands. I worked across a wide range of midwifery care, culminating in Day Assessment Lead Midwife. I have also worked as a Community Midwife band 7 for many years within the NHS as well as privately as a community midwife.  I have worked in the private sector at the Portland Hospital in London. Working mainly on delivery suite and lead for midwife for the elective caesarean sections.

My experiences include Clinical audit and running anti-d clinics, clinical research, teaching, and management roles.

Alongside midwifery practice, I began teaching full time in 2017 and have worked between teaching in colleges teaching BTEC and Cache in Health and Social Care. I have taught the new T-Levels in Midwifery, before joining the University of Cumbria in May 2024.

I am a great believer in lifelong learning and continue my education both in the field of midwifery practice and other subjects. I am commencing in January working towards further qualifications such as my senior fellowship and to carry out a piece of research this next academic year.
