Biography

Annette has worked in early years for 40 years as a classroom teacher, head teacher, a consultant and a lecturer in both Further and Higher Education. She has significant experience of leadership roles having been the Head of two children's centres and one maintained nursery school in London.

  • MA Sociology (with special reference to Qualitative Research)
  • National Professional Qualification in Integrated Centre Leadership
  • PGCert in Early Years Leadership
  • Fellow of the Higher Education Academy

Academic and research interests

Annette’s research interests are social justice and equality, she has carried out research into the experience of young children and university students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Her most recent work-based research includes anti-racist practice in early years settings; the use of mother tongue in teaching and leadership and management in the early years.
