Biography

Brenda is a full-time lecturer for the University of Cumbria and is a practising specialist paramedic and advanced clinical practitioner working across various NHS trusts covering primary care, urgent care, out-of-hours, urgent care, and emergency 999 work.

Brenda joined the University of Cumbria as a lecturer in paramedic practice in April 2021 and then as a senior lecture within the paramedic apprenticeship provision from April 2022.

The university started the First Contact Practitioner (paramedic) PGCert programme in April 2023, and Brenda was successfully appointed to Senior Lecturer Primary and Urgent Care - FCP lead on a permanent basis in August 2023.

Brenda holds a master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice from Oxford Brookes University and is an independent and supplementary prescriber, in addition she holds a PGCert in Education and is registerd with the Higher Education Academy. 

Brenda's post-nominals are: MSc ACP, BSc (Hons), PGCert ClinEd, FHEA, MCPara.
