Biography

Iain joined the University in 2019 following a full career in the Defence Sector (to Brigadier in the British Army) with responsibilities in UK and deployed overseas in:

  • Operational Logistics
  • Strategic Movements, Supply Chain and Transport
  • Defence Infrastructure Programme (Portfolio, Programme and Project Management - P3M)

He was awarded a CBE for Defence Operational Logistics and Resilience activities in 2013.

Iain authored the Joint Service Doctrine on Operational Logistics, and instructed Military Staff.

He has devised and taught Project Management modules at Levels 4, 5 and 6 (Face to Face and Online)

Iain has presented on P3M to the Royal Logistic Corps Foundation,

Currently, Iain:

  • Manages and teaches the MSc programme: Project Leadership
  • Leads and devises modules at levels 4-7, and teaches on the Project Management Degree Apprenticeship

Qualifications and memberships

Following a first degree (BA, Joint Hons, English Literature and German) and a Diploma from the Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr,  Iain graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in 2001.

Member of the Association for Project Management (MAPM).

Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Various Project Management qualifications including IPMA Level D - Project Management Qualification (PMQ)

Academic and research interests

Public major projects, including heritage initiatives.
