Biography
James gained is Undergraduate degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice at University of Central Lancashire. He would equally achieve his Masters (by Research) there shortly after when he researched the effectiveness of prison as a rehabilitation technique for problematic drug users.
He then began working for a Drug and Alcohol Service within a Cat-C Prison where he interacted and supported prisoners on a daily basis with their recovery from addiction. This was within the only Therapeutic Community for addiction left within the prison estate. Utilising the knowledge from his research and additionally skills from being a Samaritans Volunteer for a couple of years, he was able to provide his time and expertise that was well rounded and supportive to encourage prisoners to focus on recovery and to reflect on their past and challenges they need to overcome.
James holds significant amount of knowledge on the prison estate, the prisoner experience and challenges that arise in these areas.
