Biography

Jason graduated with an Honours degree in Forest Management in 1995, funding his study by carrying out practical forestry work.

His early career involved roles in harvesting and woodland management and as a technologist in the timber processing industry.

He has a passion for woodland creation and led large scale projects in Grampian and South West England.

Jason then moved into investment forestry, where he developed his career, holding director level positions at Tilhill, FIM Services and Gresham House Forestry. During this period, he played a key role in building a £3.5bn global forestry portfolio.

This role included fund-raising and developing investment funds.  It also involved creating new approaches to facilitate measurement of the impact of investments on Natural Capital, which could be applied on a global basis.

Jason was a member of the Executive Committee, responsible for strategy and operational delivery across the group.  However, his main role was in designing the acquisitions process, identifying suitable investments, carrying out environmental screening and obtaining Investment Committee approval to invest.  He was then responsible for legal and technical due diligence and handover to the asset management team.

Jason continues to work on projects through his consultancy business.
