Biography

I joined the Westcountry Ambulance Service in Somerset as a trainee Ambulance Technician in 1994 before qualifying as a paramedic in 1997. From 2001 I held a number of front-line managerial roles including managing stations and acting as incident commander for the county, all whilst still being an active paramedic. In 2014 I moved into the Trust’s Learning and Development Department, helping to deliver face-to-face training and support to staff of all grades, both in the classroom and operationally. This emphasis shifted in 2020 to delivering virtual training and working in the Clinical Hub conducting remote triage.

I completed my BSc(Hons) in Practice Development with the University of Cumbria in 2016 and subsequently completed a PgCert in Clinical Education in 2018. In 2021 I was fortunate enough to join the University of Cumbria Paramedic Apprenticeship team and now lecture on the course and support staff across the Southwest of England.

Outside of work I am passionate about environmental issues and do everything I can to be green whilst still living a comfortable life! If the weather allows, I spend time helping to grow my own vegetables, and when the weather isn’t so good I relax by listening to music or attempting to play my own.
