Biography

Sarah lectures on our undergraduate and postgraduate primary initial teacher education programmes in our Institute of Education, Arts and Society. She specialises in teaching behaviour leadership, primary English, oracy, pedagogy, early years, assessment, and special educational needs and inclusion. Sarah is a module leader for multiple modules across our three campuses. Sarah is a personal tutor on the 3-year undergraduate degree in Primary Education: Early years and SEND with QTS.

Prior to joining the University of Cumbria, Sarah taught in primary schools for twenty years across all age phases. During this time her role involved working as a subject leader, KS1 phase leader, curriculum developer, and as a deputy head teacher at a large primary school in Harlem, New York City. She also spent 2 years working in several primary schools in a rural region of The Gambia where she supported professional development and training programmes of hundreds of teachers.

Qualifications and memberships

BA Hons with QTS in Primary Education, Geography & Physical Education

MA in Education and International Development.

Currently studying PhD in Higher Education: Research, Evaluation and Enhancement
