Simon Irving

Biography

After a career in commercial and investment banking, incorporating project management, I was asked by a local Further education college if I would like to do some teaching. This allowed me to pass on some of my experience to the next generation of project managers. I went into education full-time as a result of this and became the Head of the Area for Business, IT, and Media with responsibility for all areas of the curriculum and approximately 30 staff.

I moved to the University of Cumbria as a senior lecturer in Project Management in Septemeber 2023.

My particular interests in the field of Project management are Project Leadership and team dynamics and laterally the challenges of remote working and disparate teams.

Qualifications and memberships

First-class honors degree in Computing.

PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education)

Member of the APM (Association for Project Management)
