Module - Acute Care: Contemporary Issues (Level 7)

This module aims to provide a flexible, student-centred approach to explore contemporary issues underpinning the development of specialist competencies to meet the needs of the acutely ill adult, independent of clinical setting, including those recovering from critical illness, stepping down from critical care areas to ward based or within a community-based or pre-hospital setting. The module leader will assist you in identifying key learning resources and strategies relating to the learning outcomes. The strategy for meeting the learning outcomes will be written into a learning contract negotiated between you and the module leader.

What you will learn

The learning contract is developed between you and the module lead to address your specific learning needs and underpin the chosen competencies for work based assessment. To meet the learning outcomes, your self-directed study will include the relative theories, evidence base, guidelines and health care policy which relate to the therapeutic interventions and consider the factors involved in promoting a multi-disciplinary approach to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of this patient group within your care setting.
