Course Structure

What you will learn

Drawn from the MSc Paramedic: Practice Development Programme, this module will enable you to develop comprehensive knowledge and skills in clinical decision making in relation to the assessment and care management of patients/clients through contemporary paramedic practice.

Modules

The module adopts a problem based learning approach and explores the application of theories and frameworks to clinical decision making in practice; the principle of critical thinking skills, evidence based practice and audit.

You will be asked to demonstrate a rigorous, critical analysis of the models and frameworks associated with decision making while evaluating and synthesising the development of your own professional practice through reasoning and reflection.

  • HCPD7033 Emergency Clinical Decision Making and Problem Solving - 20 credits at level 7
    Guided independent study - 176 hours

    Scheduled learning and teaching - 24 hours

    You will compile a 3,500 word portfolio of evidence for your summative assessment, which will demonstrate evidence of development of their clinical decision making skills and judgement, and your appraisal of the influence and impact of contemporary issues in emergency and urgent care.
