A new graduate entry medical school in and for Cumbria has been established in partnership with Imperial College London.
The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine is a unique collaboration offering a four-year graduate entry programme with a bespoke curriculum, specifically designed to meet the needs of the region.
Uniting the University of Cumbria's expertise in the education of nurses, midwives and allied health professionals with Imperial's reputation as one of the world's best medical schools, the curriculum has been co-created with regional NHS partners and is designed to support the retention of doctors in Cumbria and the North West.

In addition we provide opportunities in Biomedicine suited to those who may be considering a graduate entry programme in medicine. The programme is subject to ongoing quality assurance by the General Medical Council (GMC).

The University of Cumbria and Imperial College London are working together to launch a new graduate entry medical school in Carlisle.
The new school, which aims to enrol its first students in autumn 2025, will train new doctors for Cumbria and North West England to transform healthcare in local communities.
